Substack Is a Joke

Below is my goodbye letter to Substack. I'm going to try Writing.com for my writing. Maybe Wattpad but that still feels like the Darkside. I wish I could just post my creative writing on here but no one seems to give a shit.

To Substack: "I’m sorry, but it’s true. I’m glad everyone on here likes it and thinks it’s different from other social medias. But the truth is, I just want to post my stories and hope a stranger will find them and engage. That’s not going to happen. If you want to succeed, you have to already have a following or schmooze with comments and promote yourself with notes. They are tweets, people.

In the past week, I have become what I didn’t want to. I have fallen into another unconscious social media trap. Thanks to Substack — and that will be hard to forgive. I don’t really know why I’m writing this because no one will probably read it.

If you would like a true small and indie web experience that is writing-forward, try Writing.com. That’s where I’m moving, and I’ll post my handle, or whatever it’s called, later.

I wish you all the best, and I hope you keep creating instead of posting notes begging for subs or only commenting on posts because you feel like you have to. There’s a lot to do on this great big melon we’re spinning around on.

Time to go back to Zorb."
